U CRM Control

At Ubiquiti Networks, I worked with the creative director and a team of developers building U CRM Control. U CRM Control is a web based application used by wireless internet service providers to manage and monitor their devices. Some challenges we faced were creating a scalable design that could accommodate hundreds of devices, multiple scenarios, and data visualization of complex metrics.

We worked on an Agile team to iteratively build and test our designs. Our user research was based on community feedback for new features and improvements to our product.

MAin list view

The main list view is filterable by devices, main access points, and online status. At a glance, the user can easily tell if a device is experiencing difficulty by the color coded statuses directly to the left of the device names.

Data Visualization

In a subsequent update, we added a visual sunburst view, which allowed the user to monitor overall device network health. Problems with access points (innermost ring), subgroups (middle ring) and devices (outermost ring) are easily detected through color coding.

The speed test provided a real-time, detailed view of the signal strength of the user’s devices.

airlink

AirLink was an application that worked in conjunction with U CRM Control. It allowed the user to place access points and stations on a map to determine signal strength. The user could configure different devices to achieve optimal configuration before physically installing the devices at their locations.

onboarding

The discovery tool was implemented to allow users to add multiple devices to their network at the same time. Devices could be added either by scanning the network for new devices or searching by IP range or address.
